The second annual West Sussex Cycle Summit took place on the afternoon of October 9th.      It was a joint venture organised by WSCFand WSCC.  For policy and decision makers as much as for engineers and planners, the aim was to discuss best practice in both policy and practice - all in support of the West Sussex Cycle Strategy and its succesful implemention.

Feedback from the Summit has been overwhelmingly positive with many comments about the excellent speakers. There was wide agreement that our councils need to start building cycle networks and that Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plans (LCWIPs) are the key to unlocking investment funding. Several councillors have already started to ask for an LCWIP for their area.

The Summit Chair, Rosemary French commented: “Following the excellent presentations, I was delighted to watch the willingness of councillors to collaborate to improve the quality and safety of cycle routes for their residents.”
